The major shareholder of GIGA PV S.A. is EC BREC Institute for Renewable Energy sp. z o.o. (IEO), founded in 2001 as an independent research group and the first competence and research center for renewable energy in Poland, operating in the form of a commercial law company. The Institute’s team has the necessary knowledge and over 20 years of experience in the field of renewable energy, ranging from energy and industrial policy, law, economic and financial analyzes in the field of the entire RES area, to technical and design issues. IEO also has extensive experience as a business advisor (due-diligence, assumptions and concepts of technical solutions, functional and utility programs, feasibility studies, business plans, authorship and construction supervision) in investment processes in the field of renewable energy, in particular solar. IEO also plays a technical advisory role in photovoltaic farm construction projects. IEO has been cooperating with the solar energy industry for many years, initially with solar collectors (since 2004, when, under a license agreement, it implemented its own aluminum-based solutions for solar collector technology), and since 2011, continuously with the industry producing equipment for the photovoltaics, in particular photovoltaic modules. IEO has been publishing the most important publications for the domestic photovoltaic market for 12 years, including the cyclical report “Photovoltaic Market in Poland”, prepared on the basis of surveys from companies at various stages of the supply chain. An additional effect of the work are databases of companies and projects. The latest thematic report concerns the production of devices for photovoltaics called “Roadmap for the Development of the PV Industry in Poland until 2030”.

IEO performs expert opinions for the Government, including recently for the Ministry of Development (related to the implementation of RES goals), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and state administration bodies (Supreme Audit Office) and directly for EU agencies (European Court of Auditors – in the field of renewable energy financing) and globally (UNIDO – in the field of photovoltaics) and the World Bank.

IEO conducts post-graduate studies and training in the field of renewable energy technology, market and economics for domestic energy and financial companies (banks: Alior Bank, BGŻ, mBank and the Polish Bank Association) and domestic business organizations (KP Lewiatan, Polish Photovoltaic Association, Polish Chamber of Commerce of Electronics and Telecommunications) and foreign (chambers of commerce in Germany, France and energy concerns). In 2019, IEO organized the “Industrial PV Panel” cluster connecting key domestic production plants of companies in Poland, including producers of PV modules, for the purpose of promoting PV production in Poland and the EU (local content). In 2021, IEO initiated the “Sector Agreement of the PV industry with the Polish government”, the main goal of which was to strengthen local content in the PV industry.
